Free Talk: Intro to the Feldenkrais Method

June 9, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

Learning to Move – Moving to Learn

In this introductory workshop with Louise Chegwidden, you will experience ‘Awareness Through Movement,’ the group practice of the Feldenkrais Method.

The Feldenkrais Method uses directed attention to refine the relationship between the sensory and motor systems. This leads to decreased stress and strain in muscular activity which in turn reduces wear and tear.

Please visit LoiuseChegwidden.com to read about Moshe Feldenkrais, the physicist, and engineer who developed this work, and watch an introductory video.

About Louise Chegwidden: She has been studying and teaching movement for 40 years, as an athlete and dancer, Physical Therapist and Feldenkrais Practitioner. She works out of her home/office in the Temescal district of Oakland, where she sees people of all ages who are facing movement challenges, both neurological and orthopedic. She is a regular teacher at Rancho La Puerta, North America’s #1 spa destination, teaches weekly classes in Rockridge and Pleasant Hill, and currently works with the Oakland Tech High School crew team. Louise is the author of ‘Granny Gets a New Knee, an illustrated story and instruction manual to help anyone prepare for and rehab after knee replacement surgery.
